The 37th Fajr International Film Festival honors Ali Akbar Sadeghi with a Crystal Simorgh.
During a ceremony held on the 4th night of the Festival, the internationally-celebrated Iranian painter and animator Ali Akbar Sadeghi was appreciated for more than half a century of artistic creations. Reza Mirkarimi, the head of the film event presented the award to Sadeghi.
Fatemeh Motamed-Arya who is currently our house guest for ifilm series ‘Under the Blade’ attended the ceremony as the presenter. In her speech she talked of how she was attracted to Sadeghi’s animations as a child.
Aydin Aghdashlou, Ebrahim Haqiqi, Ebrahim Forouzesh and Karim Saremi were also some other prominent artistic figures who attended the event.
The Festival also pays homage to Sadeghi by screening a selection of his works, including ‘Seven Cities’, ‘Rook’, ‘Flower Storm’, ‘Boasting’, ‘The Sun King’, and ‘Zal & Simorgh’, in the Classics Preserved section.
Among the huge number of awards and nominations that the great artist has gained, perhaps the C.I.D.A.L.C Ghandi Award for his ‘Man Anam Ke’ which he won from the 1974 Berlin International Film Festival stands out.
The 37th edition of the Fajr International Fest which kicked off on April 18 is currently underway in the Iranian capital city of Tehran. The event is set to wrap up on April 26, 2019.
